Before the Day Begins

I’m sitting here in the dark, listening to birds chirping.

And I can feel it — my mind and body starting to tense in the usual way, anticipating the busy day ahead.

It’s subtle, but it’s there: a tightening in the chest, a pulling forward in the mind, a quiet urge to rush.

Today I’m grateful for this small window of time.

A moment to notice it. To reflect. To adjust.

I’m not trying to remove the busyness.

I’m trying to meet it differently: calmer mind, more relaxed body.

Best self — but calm. Still productive. Just less tense.

Slow and steady.
